A current and future growth area in signaling-related antibody demand is derived from recent and on-going extensive interest in the analysis of the cell division cycle. Nuclear Pore & transport proteins are involved in viral import into the cell and cancer, as well as specific genetic diseases.
Without checkpoint proteins, cell division would occur with damaged or incompletely replicated DNA, which could result in genetic mutation or cell death. Failure of these DNA surveillance mechanisms is found to correlate with a higher incidence of cancer, and a better understanding of these mechanisms may provide new opportunities to reverse and arrest cancer.
